In Memory

Nellie Ison (McIntosh)

Nellie Ison (McIntosh)

Nellie danced her way into Heaven this week after her valiant battle with early onset Alzheimer's. Nellie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at age 55 on September 10, 2018.

Nellie was born to Judy and Willard Ison in Salt Lake City. She grew up alongside her siblings John, Stephen, Peggy, and Rachel (She is preceded in death by her brother Brooke). Nellie attended East High School, where she created some of her favorite memories of Pep Club and Dance Company. Nellie graduated from the University of Utah in Elementary Education. While at the University, she served as Sorority President of Alpha Omega.

Nellie's sorority counselor introduced Nellie to the love of her life, Dale McIntosh. Dale and Nellie were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 19, 1984. Dale and Nellie have four wonderful children Katie, Laura, Sarah, and Jake. They have lived in Bountiful for 28 years where they raised their children and made many lifelong friends. Nellie had a great passion for teaching and children. As a school teacher, she blessed the lives of children for over 17 years at Valley View Elementary. Everyone that met or knew Nellie couldn\t help but falling in love with her contagious charm and fun personality. Her students especially loved her famous, "chicken dance," she performed at the end of every school year. During her summer breaks, Nellie enjoyed working in her garden, reading books, and riding roller coasters. After her children were grown, she loved spending time with Dale and visiting their grandchildren. They also enjoyed going to the movies, on long drives and hikes together. Nellie always enjoyed a cold Coke and a bar of chocolate.

Nellie loved the Savior and served diligently in her church callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as Relief Society and Primary President for many years. However, her favorite calling was the nursery. Nellie loved to visit and could talk with anyone she met.

Nellie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dale John McIntosh and their four children, Katie (Adam) Evertsen, Laura (Jordan) Ferguson, Sarah (Tom) Rasmussen, and Jacob McIntosh. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Emma, Olivia, Molly Sue, and Sophia.

Nellie always saw the good in people. She fought a hard battle against Alzheimer's with dancing, laughter, and smiles.
