Jefferson B Nelson

Jeff Nelson, age 36, passed away Sunday April 30, 2000 in Salt Lake City after a 3-year courageous battle against breast cancer.  Jeff was born December 21, 1963 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Curt and Judy Nelson. He graduated from East High School in 1981 and the University of Utah in 1986.

No one was more suited to live in and for baseball than Jeff. He attended Joe Brinkman Professional Umpire School in 1988, and was a Pioneer League and Midwest League Baseball Pro Umpire from 1988-1991. In 1992 Jeff became the Assistant General Manager of the Waterloo Diamonds Baseball Club (Padres) where he met his wife Tracie and in 1993 was promoted to General Manager. In 1994 Jeff moved on to manage the Helena Brewers in Montana. Jeff and Tracie were married October 1, 1994, and then moved to Wisconsin where he managed the Beloit Snappers (Brewers) until he retired in 1997 to wage his war against breast cancer.
