Shelly Crowell (Plant)

Shelley Kay Crowell Plant February 9, 1963-October 10, 2010 “Our Angel on Earth” "I have closed my eyes for the last time and have begun my new journey. I lost my battle with cancer, a disease that took away my physical abilities, but could not touch my soul, my internal spirit or my heart filled with love for my family. I was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on February 9, 1963, the third of four children born to Ellwood and Margaret Crowell. Don’t tell any of my siblings, but I am the favorite. With my sweetheart and best friend, Alan, we just celebrated our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on October 5. We had a wonderful life together, filled with joy, love and beauty balanced by difficult lessons life sometimes taught us. I could not have asked for a more caring, loving man who made my illness bearable and allowed me to maintain my dignity when this disease tried to take away so much of whom I am. Our lives were blessed and enriched by the birth of our two beautiful daughters, Alyson Margaret and Lindsey Anne. Girls, you know how much I love and cherish you. You have always been the brightest lights in my life and I will be with you forever. I have always wished the best and happiness for each of you; don’t ever settle for less than you deserve." Shelley died peacefully at home on October 10, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Shelley was truly our Angel on Earth and will be deeply missed. Even during her struggle with this horrible disease, she was more concerned about others through her big heart and random acts of kindness. Shelley taught us all a lesson in courage and how to remain positive through adversity. Halloween and Christmas are her favorite holidays and will never be quite the same without her here to decorate our home. We will do our best to honor Shelley by continuing her traditions and legacies. She will be with us forever as she has laid her handprint on each of our hearts.
